I had my first dental appt. with Dr. Hackler and was beyond impressed. From the beautiful waiting room to the t.v. in the operatory, I could not have asked for a better place to take care of my dental needs! Dr. Hackler took photos of my teeth that she then showed me on the large screen t.v. in front of me. Her explanations were thoughtful and her bedside manner is superb. Highly recommend! So happy that I found a dentist that I can trust who also has a great personality!

Both the dentist and the assistant were amazing! Dr. Patterson was great and explaining a treatment plan that worked for me and my budget. He was very thorough and made sure I was comfortable during treatment. The assistant, Analicia was very sweet and made sure I knew exactly what was going on. She also made sure that I was feeling okay before, during, and after. She definitely helped ease my nervousness about being at the dentist! I would recommend Town Lake Dentistry in the future!

Pain Relief

At Towne Lake Dentistry, we prioritize your comfort above all else. If you are experiencing dental pain, our first priority is to alleviate your discomfort. Our skilled dentists will conduct a thorough examination to diagnose the root cause of the pain. Once identified, we will implement the most suitable pain relief method, ensuring you are at ease throughout the process. Whether it's a toothache or sensitivity issue, you can trust us to provide the relief you deserve.

Cracked Tooth Repair

A cracked tooth can be a frightening experience, but rest assured, our team is well-equipped to handle this dental emergency. We utilize state-of-the-art technology and advanced dental techniques to assess the extent of the crack and determine the best course of action. Depending on the severity, we may recommend dental bonding, dental veneers, or dental crowns to restore the tooth's integrity and your beautiful smile.

Crowns

Dental crowns are a versatile and reliable solution for various dental problems, including severe decay, broken teeth, and large fillings. Our skilled dentists will carefully craft a custom-made crown that perfectly matches the color and shape of your natural teeth. With a crown in place, your tooth will be protected, and you can confidently bite, chew, and smile without any discomfort.

Root Canal Treatment

If you're experiencing severe tooth pain due to an infected or inflamed pulp, our gentle and precise root canal treatment is the answer. Contrary to common misconceptions, root canals are not painful; they are the key to relieving your pain and saving your natural tooth from extraction. Our experienced dentists will carefully remove the infected pulp, disinfect the area, and then seal it with a durable material. Following the treatment, we'll place a crown to reinforce the tooth's structure and restore its functionality.

Tooth Extractions

In certain situations, such as advanced decay or trauma, tooth extraction may be the most viable option. At Towne Lake Dentistry, we understand that the thought of tooth extraction can be intimidating, but we strive to make the procedure as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Our team will thoroughly explain the process and answer any questions you may have. We also offer various tooth replacement options, such as dental implants and bridges, to restore your smile and oral health after an extraction.

How Soon Should I See a Dentist?

It’s recommended that you seek urgent dental care as soon as possible in cases of accident or injury. Without immediate attention from a trained dental professional, you may experience:

  • Compounding symptoms (such as pain or swelling)
  • Lasting damage to the teeth or gums
  • Worsening or spreading infection
  • Tooth loss due to severe damage or infection (such that the tooth cannot be repaired)

Never put off the treatment you need to find relief and restore your healthy smile. Emergency dental care can be the difference between saving your tooth or losing it. Dr. Patterson and the Towne Lake Dentistry dental team offer same-day emergency appointments to accommodate your needs and see you as soon as possible.

How Can I Avoid a Dental Emergency?

Our team understands that accidents happen when you least expect them. Even with great oral health, no one can plan for surprise visits to the dentist. That said, you can avoid many common dental emergencies by maintaining good oral health.

Here are some tips on how you can keep your smile healthy and strong:

  • Wear a mouthguard when participating in contact sports or physical activities. This includes any recreational activities that can result in an injury to your mouth, lips, or teeth.
  • Avoid foods that are hard or excessively chewy, which may crack or damage your teeth.
  • Never use your teeth to cut or tear things. This can damage your teeth or cut your gums.
  • Don’t chew on pens or pencils,
  • Be sure to practice good at-home dental care and keep up with regularly scheduled checkups.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is considered a dental emergency?

A dental emergency is any oral health issue that requires immediate attention to alleviate pain, stop bleeding, save a tooth, or address any condition that could worsen without prompt treatment. Common examples include severe toothaches, knocked-out teeth, fractured or chipped teeth, and abscesses.

Should I visit an emergency dentist for a toothache?

If you experience a persistent or severe toothache, it's essential to seek professional care. A toothache may indicate an underlying issue like an infection or decay, and an emergency dentist can diagnose and provide the appropriate treatment to relieve your pain.

What should I do if my tooth gets knocked out accidentally?

Time is of the essence if a tooth gets knocked out. Rinse the tooth gently with water without touching the root and try to place it back into its socket if possible. If that's not feasible, store the tooth in milk or a tooth preservation solution and seek immediate dental care. The chances of saving the tooth are higher if you act quickly.

Can a cracked tooth wait for treatment?

While a cracked tooth might not always be painful, it is essential to have it evaluated by an emergency dentist promptly. Even hairline cracks can worsen over time, leading to more significant issues like infections or complete fractures. Early intervention can save the tooth and prevent further complications.

How can I manage a dental emergency before reaching the dentist?

For temporary relief, you can rinse your mouth with warm saltwater to reduce inflammation and gently floss around the affected tooth to remove any food particles. Over-the-counter pain relievers can be used, but avoid placing aspirin directly on the gums, as it may cause irritation.

What happens during a dental emergency appointment?

When you arrive for an emergency dental appointment, our experienced dentist will conduct a thorough examination of the affected area. X-rays may be taken to assess the extent of the problem accurately. Once the issue is identified, our dentist will discuss treatment options with you and provide the necessary care to alleviate pain and address the dental emergency.

Will my dental insurance cover emergency dental care?

Coverage for emergency dental care varies depending on your insurance provider and plan. It's best to contact your insurance company directly to understand your coverage details. At our practice, we work with various insurance plans and will assist you in maximizing your benefits.

What if I'm unsure whether my situation is an emergency or not?

If you're uncertain about the severity of your dental issue, it's always better to err on the side of caution. Contact our office, and our dental team will assess your situation over the phone and provide guidance on whether immediate attention is necessary.
